Sept 11

Today is the day...its the 5th anniversary of a day I never want to forget. Perhaps you read my post just after the London incident last month. It was about where I was and what I was doing on that fateful day in 2001. Fox News calls it "The Day America Changed" and indeed it was. I feel for the families of all those who died that day. The victims, the heroes, the innocent bystanders....It was a dreadful time for us all....I hope their families and friends remember and honor them. It is a good an decent thing to do....
So many have died due to terrorism or herosim or on the battle field before and since that day....the thing I really want to remember is this:

There is an ideology, a fanatism, that would seek to destroy us...our nation, our way of life.... my way of life....the people I love, everything I hold dear. They do not care about individuals, they are not sentimental, they can not be touched by humanity nor reasoned with. They are driven by a greater force...a complete belief that what they are doing is right in the sight of their God...and as such, are extremely dangerous, especially to complacent Americans who can hardly, even in our wildest imaginations, relate. May we never forget and may we be ever vigilant....this enemy is not defeated and threatens us every day. This is what I want to remember today.

Great post. Complacency is the enemy ~ as a nation founded on God we must never forget what has happened to us. We must be vigilant and united in prayer for our great land. The war for the United States is not over. Many have paid with their lives and must never be forgotten.

I saw today Shep on Fox saying they are receiving lots of emails asking why they have to replay all of this, why they have to drudge this up. He answered them all simply, "We must show it, lest we forget."

I think it's just as sad of a situation with all of the deaths as it was five years ago. :( It's really sad!

I so agree with you. They are very, very dangerous and we're only kidding ourselves if we think this can't happen again. We can never let our guard down again and we can never ever forget.

Even as far down here as New Zealand we remember that terrible day, and watching in disbelief as the two towers went down on our early morning news AND the pentagon AND then the plane crashing. . . it was like the end of the world. We have a great number of programmes on tv over these last days to remind us afresh. The world is a different place.

Although these past few days have left me very contemplative and somber I do realize the purpose behind it. We do need to remember and to remain ever vigilant. Thank you.

You are so, so right on with this post.

I have the images of that day forever imprinted in my mind.

May we never forget...and may we never cease to pray.
