Life and Death

I read an interview this week with actor Kirk Cameron..you know the kid from the television show Growing Pains? Well he's all grown up and a serious Christian now with a new movie coming out by the same producers as Facing the Giants. Its called FireProof. While I know nothing about the movie I other than it will be glorifying to the Lord (that's what these people do) I was taken with something Kirk said in his interview...
He said " You wouldn't walk through an Aids hospital with the cure for Aids in your pocket and never get it out or mention it...well we have the cure for death."
Wow...I was really taken by that...we Do indeed have the cure for death...that cure is Life...Jesus Christ conquered Death...He IS the cure our world needs.
Have a Living, Breathing, Glorious Sunday.

Not sure I agree with Mr Cameron on the sharing thing. Everyone cares about curing disease but the value of Jesus seems to be mighty subjective. There is a reason that The Dark Knight made a zillion dollars this weekend and a christian movie not even being heard of. There are certain times we need to share but there are times when our presence is all that is needed. Just my perspective, hope the movie does well but the truth is, we are a imperfect people living in an imperfect world...

I love it when someone who could have become yet another member of the, in my opinion corrupted, Hollywood scene, turns his talent to this. You can bet I'll be seeing this film. What a profound statement he made about the cure for death. Truer words were never spoken.

I think it's an awesome quote. I have seen Kirk on TV, and I know he has really become vocal about his faith. The truth is, our faith can never simply be a private issue. We are called to be lights in the darkness (remember the song, "This Little Light of Mine"? It's from something Jesus told His disciples: don't hide it under a bushel!). Yes, our lives are to be lived in such a way as to bring glory to Christ. But we also have to "give the reason" we are living this way, too. Not to shove it down people's throats, but simply to give honor to the One to whom it is due.

Thanks for the post, Cheryl. I can't wait to see the movie.

I didn't know Kirk was a Christian. I love hearing of celebrities who've come to Christ (of course). How cool that the movie visited your blog! And I really do love that red wall. Very dramatic!

Kirk Cameron's faith blesses me every time I hear of it. (His sister has a column at CWO online). Hope to see the movie - thanks for mentioning it, Cheryl.
