KItty, kitty

You may have heard the report on Fox News and other places about this cat in the nursing facility who foretells the death of patients there....not a naturally friendly kitty, he curls up next to the patient and within about 4 hours that person dies. He is so accurate in his predictions that the nurses start calling the family when he makes a decision. Amazing isn't it?... and somehow touching....you may have seen the news report but here is the poignantly written original essay by a doctor from this nursing facility. Makes you wonder what else animals may see or know that we are too busy and have too ill defined senses to pick up on. It makes me want to pay a little more attention to that sense inside of me that whispers secrets...secrets that my spirit hears but my conscious mind just doesn't have time for...

I heard, too, in relation to this cat story, about dogs used in cancer research. This one dog was successful 6 of 6 times detecting which breath sample had cancer cells. Animals do have heightened senses...or maybe ours have just dulled...

Wow, that's really interesting ! I agree, our senses (natural) are dulled but I think our spiritual senses over time (yrs. and experience) get hightened and become very sensitive.

It does make you wonder though what or how animals are able to sense these sort of things.

I had heard about this, too. I thought it was a neat way God has used this cat to comfort the dying and give the families a chance to spend time with their loved one at the last moments of their life.

I've also heard stories of people's pets making them aware of a cancer in the pet owner's body. Or of a dog that alerted the pet owner that she was having a heart attack. Amazing.

As you said, it makes me wonder why we humans aren't more sensitive to God's still, small voice, even as these creatures seem to be!

Keep that cat away from me.

That was a little freaky! Imagine feeling fine and having that cat come curl up in your lap. I have heard that animals sense that bad weather is coming. Very interesting.

I read his essay and this an amazing story. But I'm not surprised. I've always believed animals, and especially cats, have a better developed sense about these things that we humans do. What a moving story. It really touched me when he said that the cat offers companionship and comfort to people who otherwise would have died alone. So sweet.

Animal senses are so fine tuned, perhaps ours could be too but we let too much interfere with them. Thanks for sharing this story. BTW, my dog started barking last night ... and about twenty minutes later it started raining (she usually hears thunder from far away before I have a first clue).

After reading this post outloud my husband and I both said, WoW at the same time.

A pleasure to meet you and read such an intriguing post especially your application of the secrets the Spirit whispers to our spirits that the carnal mind does not hear, nor can it.
