Urgent message

UPDATE 03/10/09

I ran this by my hubby last night and he pointed out to me that prophesy in the NT...is always about Christ...hardly ever about "what's going to happen", and never about the end times etc. He also pointed out that Christians in scripture and the early church were usually taken by surprise when calamity came and forced to rely on the Lord for help. Only the book of Revelation deals with the future in any real meaningful way and there are 2 ways to look at it...one is that its about the end times...the other...that its the Revelation of Christ and His Church...I go with that one personally...SOOOO...then he pointed out that David Wilkerson has been saying such things for years(Constance you aren't that off:))...and that Americans tend to get all into the "calamity" "end times" mode whenever the stock market in this country goes down...totally ignoring the persecution of Christians in Darfur or China, who I'm sure think its the end of the world on a regular basis with far more reason.

He was not impressed...consequently...as well as following my own gut...I will say as I noted below, like the 5 virgins with their laps filled with oil, I intend to practice common sense and stock my pantry...on the other hand I'm not going to get too bent out of shape over things like this.

Have any of you seen this?
I have great respect for David Wilkerson so I'm listening up. It won't hurt me to have some extra supplies on hand either.

I had not seen this, thank you for posting it. I too have great respect for David Wilkerson, in fact I have a cassette tape that must be 30 years old now and everything he prophesied came to pass, things that at the time seemed impossible to imagine.
There is a purpose for your blogging Cheryl, there really is.

Freaks me out... I think I am prepared as I try to Live in the Moment. Must continue to do so. I thank God every morning that I wake up. I have always said It doesn't matter when Jesus is coming back, what matters is when He is coming back for you. I know that wont' look the way I think...

Okay. Here's what I think.
I have great respect for David Wilkerson as well. And as I read the article found in your link - I have to say that I IMMEDIATELY felt God's presence. I'm not usually one to follow or heed the "doomsday prophecies", however, I definitely feel that the Lord is in here somewhere...and it can't hurt to watch and pray. I have sent the link to all my email friends as well. Just as Pat said, there's a purpose for your blogging.

Deb sent me this link. Have I just become so desensitized to these types of predictions? Is it because so many others have cried wolf before?

I have heard of him, my mother has his book that he wrote. I just don't know what to think. Praying for discernment sounds like the ticket to me!
Hugs,
Connie

Further note....I was merely suggesting that we watch and pray... which is what we're supposed to do as Christians, yes?

There are and have been MANY, MANY prophecies over the years --whether or not they all come true, I have no idea because I rarely follow up on them, however, I believe that as Christians, we are to pray for discernment and continue to, as your DH so eloquently said, keep our eyes on Jesus.

However, there is NO denying that I felt the Lord's presence very strongly whenever I read the article... :)

food for thought!

Dear Cheryl,
I still have the David Wilkerson paperback from the sixties, translated to Norwegian.
He sure has done a lot of good in his time.
Raised in a Pentecost church his last messages are not news to me.

And if this is what will take us to turn, so be it.
The Revelations give me comfort.
As my Dad lay dying in pains and could not even talk anymore I read out loud the wonderful prophesies from chapter 21.
Revelation 21

1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

What a wonderful future for all of us.

You know, I don't even think about all that stuff - nor (quite frankly) do I even care.
I figure whatever is going to happen, is going to happen why worry, think, or concern myself with it until something really does happen !
I live my life that way with everything. I don't put a lot of "stock" into people that profess these sort of "predictions." People have been predicting things for years.

Oh yeah, I have no idea who David Wilkerson is.

I am wondering if what he describes here, is not a grace from God showing him what his ministry prevented in the late 50's and sixties, a lot of lives were turned around in that time and maybe, had that not happened, this is what America might have looked like, who knows, just my 2 cents.

BTW, I am with your hubby on this, Prophesy is about Christ.

Maybe his message (David Wilkerson's) is more for those who've yet to repent and seek the Lord - those of us who believe are already secure in Christ. I think you're right in being prepared for anything - that just makes good sense. We'll also need to be prepared in case others need our help. Good point about the Christians in Darfur or China...

Vicki

Well, another thought hit me after I sent that last one:-)Hope you don't mind, Cheryl.

When I was reading in Daniel this week, it was so good to mull over the last chapter (12). It's hard to understand biblical prophecies & visions sometimes, but this comforted me:

"And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been... But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book."

Trouble will always be with us; it's even increasing. But yes, prophesy is more about Christ. We're secure in Him even unto death...when we'll see Him face to face. We're not to live in fear.
