Ordinary

I read somewhere, on another blog afew days ago,
when there is no daily revelation of Jesus Christ, no seeing and knowing Him alive and fresh, everything becomes ordinary.

This thought is haunting me....and I know it to be true.
I have seen people sleepwalk through their lives...I have done it...
I have seen entire churches become coffee clubs where social pleasantries are exchanged, potlucks abound, projects are debated and theology discussed....but there is little life within....
You can tell....because everything has become soooo ORDINARY even in the heat of debate or the thrill of theological discovery....ordinary...even the joys of life, fellowship, birth, spring, love....ordinary.

He is so Other...so ExtraOrdinary..... contact with Him has the ablility to change everything...no, the impact that does change everything and I don't mean just that once when you "ask Him into your heart" I mean daily...moment by moment...

I remember Peter saying something to the effect that you could see on their faces that they had been with Jesus....
I don't think my face looks like that lately.....but it has in days gone by....so I know its possible....
**********************************************
Perhaps my greatest fear....to live an ordinary life.....

I love you sister! And you do not live an ordinary life! You are living a divine life! One so centered on the Lord that I hear, "Abba, Father" crying from within you.

Did you see the American Idol results show??!

It had to be done...

I definitely don't run the risk of living an ordinary life -- if you're led by the Spirit, your life may LOOK ordinary, but it's anything but...

I love this - in my devotional today C. Stanley was talking about how we need the Holy Spirit in our lives to lead and that we just can't do it on our own. The power of the Holy Spirit is extraordinary -- the only way we can do all that we need to do and be the influence we need to be is to have Him in our lives. Thank you so much as always for the encouragement.

Revelation 21:5 "Behold I make all things new" I don't think we were intended to live ordinary roitine lives when through Jesus all things are made new it all comes down to leaving ourselves open to the newness Jesus wants to offer instead of binding ourselves in our comfortable and immovable zones

I learned a lesson a few years back..

Doing the dishes is normal, doing the dishes and thankful for the food that was on them is not

Taking care of my plants is normal, taking care of my plants realizing God could have made everything one color and did not is not

Walking into church is normal, walking into church knowing some people are killed before they can get to there secret home church makes walking into church anything but ordinary

Everything ordinary is so not ordinary when God is inserted or so I think.

Be loved

You know, we moved to Pcola to be part of the Brownsville Revival. His precense was so thick, so penetrating, so convicting. We spent night after night for nearly two years at church, from 7 to 1 am. We were addicted to His precense. We never knew what He would do from night to night.

As my daughter said after a particularily gripping night, "You know Mom, I came to church, thinking I was clean, I did not know how dirty I was."

I feel the most alive after the Holy Spirit has cut me to the quick with His Sword. When He reveals what is opposing Him with the inward cut and how to please Him with the other side of the blade.

He does not condemn, but reveals sin and the way of righeousness. I feel lonely when I go for months w/o that revelation.

I long for His precense, that convicting, loving, powerful precense that brings an entire church to its knees and face in repentance. No man is demanding it, just His precense. . .because He is Holy, Holy, Holy. . . and I am not. . .
